Dr. Farida Chowdhury is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BRAC University since July 2023. Previously she was a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet.

 

She completed her PhD in Computing Science from the University of Stirling, UK. Her PhD thesis title was “Structured Peer-to-Peer Overlays for NATed Churn Intensive Networks”. She completed her MSc. in Network and e-Business Centred Computing which was an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Programme between the University of Reading, UK; Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and Universidad Carlos(III) de Madrid, Spain.

 

She is one of the authors of a book titled Digital Technology (ডিজিটাল প্রযুক্তি) of Class VI of National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), Bangladesh. She was a visiting research scientist at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (Fraunhofer FIT), Germany from May, 2022 to August, 2023. During her SUST tenure, she also worked as the Coordinator of Pipilika, the first Bengali search engine, in between August, 2016 to December, 2019. 

 

Her current research interests include Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Security Usability, Privacy and Networking. She published numerous research articles in reputed international academic journals, conferences and workshops.
