Yeasin Arafat Pritom is currently a postgraduate student in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at the University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh. He is also working as a full-time lecturer in the CSE department at BRAC University, Bangladesh. Starting from July 2022, Yeasin has been serving as the chair of the IEEE EDS Student Branch Chapter at DU. Under his capable leadership, the chapter has become one of the most vibrant and promising IEEE student branch chapters in Bangladesh, promoting excellence in research and learning in the area of electron devices. Yeasin`s research focuses on emerging nanoelectronic and nanophotonic devices for low-power computation and energy-harvesting applications. He has been actively involved in science projects and Olympiads since his early years in junior school. Passing a highly competitive entrance exam, with flying colors, Yeasin got admitted to the EEE department of DU, making his dream of becoming an engineer, a reality. In his junior year, he started working as an undergraduate researcher in the Emerging Nanoscale Devices research group in the department. The research projects that he undertook challenged him to analyze complex information, draw logical conclusions, and apply critical thinking skills to solve problems. He also learned a variety of analytical techniques and tools which helped him to approach problems systematically and derive insights from data. Yeasin`s first research paper was published in 2023 in the reputed Nanoscale Advances journal, where he investigated different light-trapping geometries in nanoscale plasmonic solar cells using Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) simulations. His senior design project focuses on building robust computational models for sub-3 nm forksheet negative capacitance transistors and portraying their electrical behavior. In addition to his research pursuits, his engagement with IEEE EDS Student Branch Chapters has provided him the perfect platform to develop his management and leadership skills, understand team dynamics and initiate collaboration, and cultivate traits such as composure, decisiveness, and dexterity in implementing action plans. In addition, Yeasin loves hiking and participating in adventurous summit expeditions. During his leisure hours, he enjoys swimming and cycling. Yeasin also has a deep affection for pets and shares their home with a beloved cat and a collection of charming birds. Moreover, his passion for gardening extends to the delightful pastime of cultivating a diverse assortment of fruit and flower trees.
