Pratyasha is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Department of CSE, BRAC University. She also works as a remote Graduate Research Assistant in the Third Space Research Group at the Department of Computer Science, University of Toronto. Prior to this, she worked as a Research Assistant in the PROTIC II project at the Department of Human Centered Computing, Monash University, Australia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Dhaka.
For her research, she is broadly interested in the intersection of technology and society. She uses mixed-methods to study privacy, trust, ethics, bias, and social justice within socio-technical systems.
Over the past six years, she has conducted extensive ethnographic research with diverse groups, including online sexual harassment survivors, juvenile delinquents, sex workers, slum-dwellers, and LGBTQ+, Hijra, Bede, and Harijan communities across the Global South. Her work has been widely recognized and published in top HCI venues such as CHI and CSCW. She has published over 20 research papers, including ten in CHI and CSCW, and others in ICTD, ACM DIS, COMPASS, JCSS, and CUI. Her research has been rewarded with a CHI Best Paper Award in 2024.
