Faria Binta Awal is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at BRAC University and an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). She earned her B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from BUET in March 2025, where she graduated with distinction, ranking among the top 10 students in her cohort.

Her research focuses on developing computational methods for life science, spatial biology, and biomedical data science. She has worked on projects spanning machine learning for spatial transcriptomics, graph-based biological modeling, and deep learning for biomedical imaging. In undergraduate thesis, Faria developed SuNSTAMP, a supervised factorization framework integrating spatial transcriptomics with complementary molecular readouts, and contributed to the Spatialomics-Toolkit, presented at the Festival of Genomics & Biodata Boston 2025 workshop.

She has received multiple academic and research awards, including the RISE (Research and Innovation Centre for Science and Engineering) Research Grant and national recognition in programming contests such as the National Girls’ Programming Contest (Champion, 2022). Her team (BUET_Harmonica) ranked 23rd in ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest 2024. Her ongoing work explores graph-based contrastive learning and computational models of cell–cell communication in regenerative biology.
